Rules for selling your own produce

National rules

  • CFIA: Food business activities that require a licence. Canadian Food Inspection Agency: no Safe Food for Canadians licence is needed to trade food within your own province. A licence is needed to package, label or grade food that will be sold at farmers' markets in another province. Provinces may have their own requirements. (source, checked 7 October 2026)
