Rules for selling your own produce

EU rule

• Regulation (EC) No 852/2004, Art. 1(2)(c) and 1(3). EU food hygiene Regulation 852/2004 does not apply to direct supply, by the producer, of small quantities of primary products to the final consumer or to local shops that supply the final consumer directly (Art. 1(2)(c)). National rules

• Ruokavirasto: alkutuotannon rekisteröinti (23.4.2026). Finnish Food Authority: primary production must be registered with the municipality when the produce is not only for the own household, but growing plants or mushrooms needs no registration when done by a private person and not as a business.
