Rules for selling your own produce

EU rule

  • Regulation (EC) No 852/2004, Art. 1(2)(c) and 1(3). EU food hygiene Regulation 852/2004 does not apply to direct supply, by the producer, of small quantities of primary products to the final consumer or to local shops that supply the final consumer directly (Art. 1(2)(c)). National rules

  • NÉBIH: Kistermelői élelmiszertermelés; 52/2010 (IV. 30.) FVM rendelet. Hungarian food chain safety office (NÉBIH), under Decree 52/2010 (IV.30.) FVM: a small producer (kistermelő) must notify the district office's food chain safety department in writing before starting; registration is free, and a registered small producer may sell the primary products they grow.
